I was born May 25th 1987 in Barberton, Ohio. Music has been a staple in my life starting at a young age. I would say my first musical influence was Michael Jackson, I remember coming home from school and one of the first things I would do I go up to my room where I would sing and dance for hours. To put it bluntly I was obsessed I would even dress like him and practice “the moves”. However M.J. is just one of many, many artist that have inspired me.
I was about 14 when my dad bought me my first guitar, It was a jackson kind of 80’s looking but was bad ass. However I couldn’t play the damn thing, I was frustrated but stuck with it. My father had noticed that for once in my life, I was sticking to this guitar thing and would never put it down. A couple years after the first guitar my dad bought me my first acoustic electric. I began to notice that I could hear a song then be able to play it with pretty good accuracy. Later in my life this gift became a great help. I never had taken the time to receive formal guitar lessons which I believe has given me an upper hand because, no one plays guitar like me. I am not saying that I am an awesome guitar player only that I have my own unique way of playing.
I soon grew tired of trying to write and record songs that just weren’t turning out the way I had heard them in my head. It was not the songs themselves but the recording process I just didn’t get.
After I had purchased my first home recording studio, I noticed again things just weren’t sounding the way I wanted. I then decided to make a major investment and but something bigger and better. I worked hard and saved money and had gotten to purchase my dream. I had bought a full 24 track studio that I could start to record my music on, which this time I was sure I would get it right. However, things still just weren’t panning out.
I soon became frustrated on the overall sound of my recordings not to mention I had at this point wasted about a thousand dollars at the studio and another three thousand on my project studio still with no cd to show for it. I decided to take things to another level. I had came across a website for audio recording school and was in awe of the school. I called The Conservatory Of Recording Arts and Sciences to request my informational packet and was soon enrolled.
A couple months and a large student loan later, I bought a old 1990 Pontiac transport with over 200,000 miles packed all of my belongings and was off to Arizona. This was my first time out of state on my own not to mention my first road trip. It was the greatest experience of my life , I had my own apartment even though it was a tuna can in size It was still my tuna can. While I was out in Arizona I studied and got my learn on (lol), everything seemed to be on track. About four months into my stay and a broke down van later, I was studying for my midterm for about five hours when I came home I found my apartment had been broken into. I was at a complete loss for words, my 24 track home studio had been stolen along with two years of songwriting.
It seemed that all was lost and I so badly wanted to come home, however after a conversation with my dad he had convinced me not to throw in the towel. If it was not for him as well as the staff at The Conservatory I probably would have left . Even though it took everything I had not to run with my tail between my legs I stayed. For about two months I didn’t get much sleep, I lived in a bad area and well every little noise was unnerving. However just as everyone had told me, the time at school flew by in a matter of time it was over and I was on my way back home. This time in my life was one of the greatest experiences I have ever had. All the b.s. that I had to go through was worth it, everything I have to go through gives me material for my art.
Once home I began my internship for a local live sound company where I got to run sound for many, many local and national acts. After About a year I was fed up with Ohio and was off to Denver to work with one of my classmates from school. While I was out there in Colorado I was able to work for big names such as CNN for the D.N.C. at the Pepsi center , I was on the audio crew for Mtv’s Rock the Vote where Jakob Dylan, N.E.R.D., and Fallout Boy performed. It was awesome however something was still missing, I was where people in my feild dreamed to be and I was still unhappy.
I have always loved to play my music for friends and family but always had a hard time getting things off the ground. I decided to just go for it, I started to play at local open mic nights around Ft. Collins as well once I got home in Ohio. It is the greatest experience in the world when complete strangers come up to me and feel my music the way I do. No high is better. I finally was able to get things together and on a whim I recorded my first cd.
I went into the studio and recorded five songs in two hours which is usually unheard of. I was very strong in my beliefs of no AUTO TUNE, too many artist rely on it to help them sing as well as too many rappers. I believe these artist will fall by the waste side once people realize they can’t really sing. But hey to each their own, I am not judging anyone I just refuse to use it. I know this might not be the best auto biography but hey I am typing this when most artist have someone do it for them.
Here is the point where I would like to thank a certain few who deserve it. First of all I would like to thank my creator I am not religious but I do believe in a god.
